I love to be challenged. Enrolling in an advanced degree at the Salford Business School was a huge endeavour, but I wanted to broaden my life perspective and perhaps even begin a new chapter. I chose the MSc in digital business due to my long-lasting interest in business processes and matrix interactions, while satisfying an unmet need to gain insight into future digital and technology-driven horizons. From my perspective as a neuroscience molecular biologist and biotech analyst having very limited IT experience, the road looked long and hard.
I cannot lie, it has been extremely demanding and time-consuming. Overall though it has been less grueling than predicted as each module is exciting, intriguing and motivating. I have gained unprecedented insight into critical aspects of information systems and transformation, digital entrepreneurship as well as project management, key realms of digital business strategy.
In particular the search and social media marketing module not only underlined the importance of exploiting social networking in business sectors but also speared me to grow my online profile on different platforms, analyse my competitors and thereby boost my visibility and attractiveness to future employers. The assignment required strategic thinking, project management and good presentation skills – all entwined with social media and digital prowess! In many ways my studies continue to positively and broadly impact how to combine my scientific expertise, communication abilities and innovative mindset with newly honed business skills to boost re-direction of my career. As collateral, I also gain new tools to better perform my current job. Win, win, win!
